Creating Natural Habitats

Check out the photos from the installation of a water-leveler, AKA Beaver Deceiver in August 2024. We partnered with staff from Westchester Parks for a training opportunity to help foster understanding for future installs in the Hudson Valley.

Wildlife Moments - Aug 2024

      A teaching moment

Dan takes one last look, making sure that both tubes are working correctly.

As John explains next steps, Lucas preps the site for the second pipe/cage water leveler

(see second pipe/cage in background)

While some of the team finish up securing the next site, Dan covers up the pipe with sticks and branches, so the beavers see it as the natural surrounding.

Now the beavers can continue to take care of the dam, including the pipes which are now part of the dam. They will add mud & more branches.

This will over time strengthen the dam.

Samantha holds things together while the guys confirm the depth of the pond where the pipes are going.

Neighbor Keiko Sono sets up her camera next to coffee & pastries for on lookers and the crew.

Dropping of the 1st pipe was successful!

The pipe is now under the water, with the cage about 40' away from the dam.

All smiles after a day working in nature, with the team united.
